NMEDA on the Road to Mobility Independence

Moving around with your own car is easy but for those who have difficulties moving around might rather be challenging most especially when living alone. The top priority of buying a car or any vehicle is not how it looks but how it functions for quality is a must for transportation. Empowering through actively supporting individual members engaged in the modification of quality transportation for people with disabilities and widening the opportunities for them is the main goal of the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association (NMEDA) which was originally formed in Florida as an organization of mobility equipment dealers in 1989. NMEDA is a non-profit group of mobility equipment dealers, driver rehabilitation specialists, and other professionals dedicated to enhance transportation options of people with disabilities. Their members are required to stick to the safety standards of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

NMEDA has dealers and Quality Assurance Program (QAP) dealers. The latter is the only nationally recognized accreditation program for the Adaptive Mobility Equipment Industry. This is particularly based on the principle that in order to satisfy customers consistently, companies must have a systematic and documented approach to quality in order to further promote safety and reliability within the industry. Moreover, when you specifically need additional training or product refinements, your NMEDA dealer is always there to assist you. This is not only for people with disabilities but also for those elderly who always wants to be independent. Surely, your nearest NMEDA dealers could help you choose the right mobility vehicle for you. Perhaps you are also a caregiver or a family who always wants to have a mobility vehicle for your patient or love one, your nearest NMEDA dealer is eager to serve you. The NMEDA dealers (members) are the ones who sell handicap vans and vehicle modifications for disabled people.

My Short and Buzzing Vacay

I’m having my busy days meeting up with my long lost buddies these days but as the days are indeed fleeting, I wish every day won’t go. I wish it would just freeze and it means I won’t be leaving soonest. As much as I hate to go but I need to since I still have to comply the contract there. Well, somehow it leaves me an assurance of a short term hopefully the kids and the crazy activities won’t make my days there longer than I expected. Deep sigh! No matter how I uplift my mood to it my intuition says it won’t be. Well, it is just a matter of self motivation, right?

Being Idle

As I’m not an outdoor buddy, I love spending my vacay here just staying at home doing my online business and most of the times I end up doing absolutely nothing but cooking and watching some old movies at home. Since I don’t have any part time work now, all I do is hang around the house and do some chores. Sometimes I get so bored and tired of doing nothing and wish I was having a work to do in an office or school. Anyways, so far this is my most depressing vacation with my family because I cannot give them everything they need for I’m currently in a very tight budget unlike before when I was working with EF in China. Whew, well nothing is permanent but change and now I’m welcoming it still with arms wide open for I know this will lead us to great things in the future.

…on Teaching and Learning

Teaching and learning is a lifelong process. I’ve been teaching for almost over five years now and I can say that I’m not a master of it because I treat every experience as something new and enlightening as I go along my journey. There are times when I really like to give up and there are times I really want to stay and savour the moment. I believe that teaching doesn’t have to be like that for an educator must always be refreshed and renewed with the latest updates and great ideas to share with her students. Every kid is different and unique thus she just deserve another kind of thing may it be a strategy to apply or a project to make in and out of the classroom. It can be in real life too when she grows older and mature where she would then really realize the fruits of her hard work at school. As I am about to go on my journey again in another country where international students are my kids in the classroom, I’m always reminded of my mentor’s words when she said that make every adversity in your teaching an opportunity to grow and learn for educating others is a lifelong process. Smiles.

…on Writing Improvement

I’m still hooked on listening some BBC’s podcasts now while writing entries for my sites. I have realized that I’ve got to improve my vocabulary for diction, choice of words, is an important factor in writing good essays. I’ve found writing a therapy for me most especially when I’m working abroad or even when I’m just at home relaxing, I still love to scribble some notes on my notepad. More so, writing as a hobby could be even more demanding for choosing the right words with one’s less vocabulary in memory could be at times frustrating. That’s why with the help of some helpful applications such as my dear WordWEb is of really great help. Alright, I’ve got to concentrate on my writing now as I’ve left some drafts on my other online diaries. Speak y’all soon guys. Cheers!

Now that I’ve got a Time with my Family

Spending quality time with my family is all I ever wanted when I was still working abroad. I always dreamed of coming back home and just be with them for a whole day chatting and exchanging laughter over a sumptuous dinner. Now that I’ve got the chance to be on vacation even for just a short time is more like months of staying abroad in a very tight schedule at work. So far in my work experiences abroad, this one is probably the most challenging for me as an OFW. I don’t know it must be that I don’t really feel like to be in the place like a circle cannot fit in the square. Sighs. However, as I get to try my best to just get it on every single day and think of my family and love one here in the Philippines, somehow it gives me enough energies to carry on every single day. I hope this short break won’t end because I don’t really feel like coming back there for another torture of challenges along my way. After all, I know that at the end of all these challenges there would be a lot more growth and realizations on my part. Thus, I would grow more on all aspects of my individuality as I embrace the complete womanhood.

Not Feeling Well, Ei?

I don’t know why I’m feeling like this but I can only sense my body’s not really great. Could this be due to the erratic climate here these days? Or is it just because I’m worrying too much of the future? Either ways, I know this is not a good thing for me thus I need something to do so to divert my attention and produce great results. I know myself that if I’d dwell more on this for a longer time, I’d still be the only person to suffer the consequences. I hope that I’d be feeling great tomorrow for I need to meet my Ktutee after processing my passport renewal. Sighs.

When it Rains, it Pours!

Right, remember I told you that I’m going to be super busy in the following weeks here during my vacation? Yes, it is indeed and I will be busy as my K student has just arrived here in Cebu just tonight. This means that tutorial arrangements are going to be followed and it’s gonna be everyday. I’m so happy to have such great communication with my previous K students. Thanks M for the recommendations. Imagine it’s been almost four years since I left that K school I worked with for a year. Really, establishing great raphor with people is of utmost importance. As what the old adage says that one should never burn bridges for one never knows when she’s gonna be coming back if she ever has to for once in her life. I don’t know if I made have put these words meaningfully. Smiles. Here, I can really attest that truly like rain blessings pour abundantly like rain showers on a lovely day.

Last Roundabout

Supposedly today is my free day here as I’m gonna be flying tonight for home sweet home. Grins. I’m so damned excited to see my family and boyfriend again! Oh dear, nothing can satisfy my longing for them but only a vacation even for just a very short time. As I woke up early this morning, I’ve got my luggage checked and rechecked again for a lot of times already when Ms. S’s phone rang and it was her cousin who apparently said to drop by in few minutes because he’s going to pick up the boys. Today is their schedule to move into their new flat not quite far from our place. After a while of talking I heard Ms. S said that we are coming with them and so off we went. Upon reaching to their place, we helped them move out and move in some of their things into their new flat just on the rooftop of the building. I just couldn’t imagine how beautiful it would be there at night most especially in December and January. Smiles. After helping them move in and chatting with his wife and kids we decided to keep on moving for I haven’t seen some great places around here. Then her cousin suggested us to be our driver and tour guide. We were so thankful and indeed he toured us to great places just to take some pictures here and there. Here is one of the cool pictures I’ve taken that day which I believe would summarize how excited I am right now. Smiles.

Busier than Bees

This week and next’s would be quite busy for all of us here at school as we are nearly coming to close and as to formally welcome our summer holidays we are hosting a play for parents to watch. We are coming on Saturday to do more rehearsals and make the decorations for the upcoming long awaited performance. Some students may not come on that day so we agreed to have some supporting characters ready for whatever is missing on that day. Oh it’s gonna be my first directorial job here as an English teacher. I’m so excited just thinking of the real play on Wednesday next week. For now all I can do is imagine and leave it all to them on the day of our greatest performance of all time.
